The First Year: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly – (Chapter: One: Nikki)
You might see me as a commitment-phobe, but I am not really. I just have not found that one woman that could cause my heart to skip a beat and then begin to pound uncontrollably, make my knees go weak, make my stomach feel all-so good sick, and my brain to do nothing but think about all the time. Well, okay I did find her but we were just kids then and she’s straight, married, and with a couple of rug-rats herself. I am currently not interested in having any children of my own, my brother-the prince and heir apparent-can provide the future to The Beaumont Foundation all on his own, thank you very much. I just adopted this cute and adorable little orange stripped kitten right off the street the other day, she is the most adorable thing and is the love of my life, currently standing. I found her just right outside on my deck table that is sitting out on my veranda that is surrounded by my ever so lavish mini-estate that I can easily afford with my trust-fund. She was meow-owling desperately and looked to be like she was all so hungry, and just winged from her mother whose probably in heat and prowling the streets again.
My little lady loves to sleep in bed with me, with the only exception being is when I have company over for the night, and she just adores following me around everywhere I go. I almost feel guilty having to lock her up in the place when I leave for work during the days, but I don’t want to come home one day and have to realize she isn’t coming back, because she’s been gone for over a month.
Well, anyway me and Darius are sitting here in one of the hippiest jazz joints on Bourbon Street out here on the French Quarter, just enjoying ourselves. Darius has himself a Whiskey Sour and I’ve got me a tall glass of Rum and Coke. We sit in the darkest, furtherest corner with the best vantage point to be able to see all the patrons of the bar enjoying the band up on stage. It was early and we were reminiscing about the good old days.
"I guess having that gold shield will cramp your style now girl. Your schedule will never be regular and you go ahead and just count on the 24 hours and 7 days a week spill you’ll have to give. And just forget about falling in love. It’ll be hard enough to date, player, without getting into a serious commitment and expecting them to play 2nd fiddle to your one true first love, The Job," Darius ever so philosophically explained to his best friend in the entire world.

Good start. Is this based on the show? ‘Cause none of it aired where I am.
